Our Birthing Center was founded in 2018 to give families a safe space where they could have their ideal delivery experience. This center has always been dedicated to doing birth a little differently. Here, they understand that delivery doesn’t need to be treated as an emergency. They take a slower approach to childbirth, ditching the chaos of the hospital so you can have an intervention-free delivery. Their midwives will be there to provide you with support while empowering both you and your partner. Above all else, they are going to help you learn how to trust your body at one of its most powerful moments!
Our Birthing Center has three locations total: one on the Hudson, one in Ocean County, and my personal favorite right here in Morristown. With all of their options, you can have a calming space full of soothing colors and mother-forward amenities. The homelike environments feature large birthing tubs, cozy beds, and plenty of space to move around. You will be able to create your birth plan ahead of time, and their midwives will do whatever it takes to make it happen! While they will do everything possible to prevent an emergency, they will not hesitate to transfer your care to a hospital if they feel as though it will be the best option for you and your baby. Their goal is to make sure you can have your ideal delivery without any risks or complications.
Services
If you decide you want to deliver at Our Birthing Center Morristown, your care will begin well before your due date! They work with several credentialed providers across the area, including Midwives of New Jersey, Sage Midwifery, and Moonlight Midwives. You will start out your prenatal care with one of these practices. The very first thing your provider will do is assess your pregnancy and make sure you are an ideal candidate for a birth center delivery. This will just mean verifying you are considered low risk and are able to undergo a physiological birth. Then, throughout every appointment, they will make sure this hasn’t changed. If at any point, they determine a birth center delivery might be risky, they will transfer your care to a trusted OB-GYN.
Throughout your appointments, your midwife is going to work with you to develop your ideal birth plan while giving you the resources necessary to make it happen, including childbirth classes and office tours. Then, once your labor begins, you can head up to the center where you will be able to labor however you see fit! The midwife you worked with throughout your pregnancy will be the one by your side to support you. They also encourage you to have a doula or a birthing coach to assist. You will be able to get up, move around, snack, and use the birthing tub when you determine it’s time. They also offer natural pain relievers such as nitrous oxide.
Time For Bonding At Our Birthing Center Morristown!
Once your baby arrives, you will immediately initiate skin-to-skin to create a bond. This process stays completely unhurried, letting you take as long as you need to snuggle with your newborn. Any necessary newborn examinations will take place in your room so you can remain with your baby. You will remain in the center for 2-24 hours following your delivery. Then, they will discharge you to recover from the comfort of your own home. 24-48 hours later, they will send a postpartum RN to your house to check on your recovery.

Their Childbirth Preparation Class is seriously one of the best tools out there! These sessions happen once a month with a Certified Childbirth Educator. During your class, you will learn everything, such as what to expect throughout labor, how you will care for yourself and your baby following delivery, what those first few newborn weeks look like, and how you can prepare for early breastfeeding. These classes have been specifically designed around delivering at Our Birthing Center, offering information you simply cannot find anywhere else! If you don’t know where to find a doula for your labor, you can chat with the center, and they will help you navigate the local options. Over the years, they have built up strong relationships with some of the best birthworkers, and they will match you with the practice they think will match your style. They can also help you find pelvic floor physical therapy, newborn hearing screening, and fitness classes.
