Planning your NJ Maternity Photography Session

Maternity sessions are such a beautiful and meaningful way to capture this part of your motherhood journey, and my goal as your NJ maternity photographer is to make your photos one of the easiest and most enjoyable parts of it. You can choose a session in my Northern New Jersey home studio, a lifestyle session in your own home, or an outdoor location. Wherever we shoot, I’ll create a calm setting where you can relax while I gently guide you and capture this special time.

From booking to delivery, I walk you through everything so you know what to expect. In the studio, everything is ready when you arrive. For in-home sessions, I bring what’s needed and work with the light and spaces you love most. For outdoor sessions, we’ll pick a beautiful spot that reflects your style and makes you feel comfortable.

Within one week of your session, you’ll receive an online proof gallery to choose your favorites. After you’ve made your selections, I’ll finish the edits and deliver your gallery within 1-2 weeks, along with artwork options I can help you select and design.

My Style for pregnancy photos

I’ve curated a beautiful collection of flattering gowns and accessories designed especially for creating fine art portraits. Soft fabrics, beautiful colors, and elegant silhouettes help highlight your growing bump and natural glow without ever feeling fussy. My approach to maternity photography is soft, true to life, and focused on creating warm, natural images of you and your family that you’ll love looking back on.

Every dress and accessory in my client closet is chosen to complement my soft, classic style while keeping you comfortable and confident for your pregnancy photos. You’re welcome to select from my gowns or wear something of your own that feels special to you. All pieces are freshly sanitized and ready for you at your session.

Before your session, I help plan outfits and choose looks based on your preferences. I’ll send you a link to my client closet so you can browse all the gowns. I ask clients to choose two or three favorites ahead of time — that way we have options on hand at the studio in case one doesn’t fit perfectly or you change your mind on the day of.

To complete your look, you have the option of professional hair and makeup right before your session — a simple way to feel pampered and photo-ready without any extra stress. This thoughtful approach keeps each maternity session feeling natural, elegant, and uniquely yours.

Your Maternity Portrait Experience Made Simple

Your Session

Your maternity session is designed to be calm and enjoyable. Beforehand, I’ll send you a prep guide that answers common questions and walks you through everything so you feel completely prepared. On the day of your session, everything will be ready — from the gowns you’ve selected to the backdrop and lighting — so you can simply relax and enjoy the experience. I’ll gently guide you into natural, flattering poses, offer breaks whenever you need them, and make sure you feel comfortable and cared for while I capture beautiful, authentic images of this special time.

Maternity sessions are best booked early, ideally in your second trimester, to ensure your preferred date. Start by filling out my contact form with the type of session you’re interested in — studio, at home, or outdoors. I’ll reply within 24 hours, and once you’re ready to book, a signed contract and retainer will secure your session date. We’ll plan your session for when you’re around 28–34 weeks along, when your bump is showing beautifully but you’re still comfortable.

Gallery Delivery

Within one week of your session, you’ll receive a proof gallery with lightly edited images (no retouching yet) so you can choose your favorites from your package. Once you’ve made your selections, I’ll apply the final edits and deliver your finished gallery within 1–2 weeks. If you’d like help choosing images or artwork that will be most meaningful for your family, I’m here to guide you.

Your beautiful images deserve more than just a screen. I offer a curated selection of heirloom-quality artwork — from fine art prints and albums (a client favorite) to custom wall pieces — so you can enjoy your memories in your home every day. Whether you choose a favorite image for your wall or a full album of memories, I’ll personally help with sizing, design, and layout to ensure everything feels perfect, and you’re welcome to send me a photo of your space so I can suggest what will look best.

As a pregnancy photographer, I want your session to feel calm, comfortable, and fully guided from start to finish. During your session, I’ll gently guide and photograph you so you feel confident and at ease. During your studio maternity session, the space offers a cozy lounge area where your partner or older children can relax on a comfortable sofa, connect to Wi-Fi, or charge their devices. A refreshment station with water and snacks is always available to keep you comfortable.

To make your experience even easier, I provide a curated client closet of flattering dresses, the option to add professional hair and makeup at a special rate, and thoughtful touches throughout your session to help you feel relaxed and cared for.

One of the questions I’m asked most often is whether partners and siblings can be part of a maternity session. Absolutely! Your maternity session is an amazing way to create your first family portraits with your baby on the way. My packages include partner and sibling images so you can capture this special chapter together and have beautiful memories to look back on.

When partner and sibling photos are included, we start with those first. This gives older children their special moment and then allows them to head off with your partner or caregiver while we focus on you. I’ll gently guide everyone so the experience stays quick, flattering, and stress-free — especially for expecting moms and wiggly little ones.

When should I book my maternity session?

Most expecting moms book during their second trimester to secure their preferred date. Sessions are typically scheduled for when you’re 28–34 weeks along, when your bump is showing beautifully but you’re still comfortable.

I'm also a NJ newborn photographer! If you’re also planning a newborn session or thinking about my Milestone Membership (which includes maternity, newborn, and first birthday photos), it’s best to reserve everything at once so your dates are guaranteed. As a bonus, Milestone Membership clients receive priority booking and $150 off, and those who book a maternity and newborn session together receive a $100 offt.


Where does my session take place?

You can choose my Waldwick, NJ photography studio, your own home for a lifestyle session, or an outdoor location.

What should we wear to our session?

All maternity clients have exclusive access to my curated client closet of flattering gowns, and you’re also welcome to bring your own outfits. I’ll help you coordinate looks for your partner and children so your pictures feel cohesive and timeless.

Do you offer hair and makeup?

Yes! I partner with a trusted and talented local artists who offer a special rate for my clients. They can come to the studio or your home before your session so you’re photo-ready with zero stress.

Can my partner and children be in the photos?

Absolutely! Partner and sibling portraits are welcome, and I’ll guide everyone so the process feels natural and stress-free.

How long does a session last?

Most maternity sessions run about 1–2 hours. This gives us plenty of time for outfit changes, partner and sibling photos, and breaks if you need them
