Maternity photos are a wonderful way to celebrate the strength, beauty, and love growing inside you. They freeze a moment in time that you will treasure forever. As a NJ Maternity Photographer, my goal is to capture authentic, tender images that truly reflect this magical season. Continue reading to learn what to expect and how to book a maternity photoshoot.
When is the Best Time to Schedule a Maternity Session
Most expecting moms book their maternity photos in their second trimester and we choose a date between 28 and 35 weeks. It really depends on how much you are showing and what part of your pregnancy you want to remember. I usually recommend not waiting too close to your due date because babies love to do things on their own timeline.
You can also book earlier for a pregnancy announcement or gender reveal. If you would like more than one maternity session, I offer a special rate when sessions are booked together.
Outdoor sessions are best during the last hour or two before sunset when the light is soft and dreamy. For indoor sessions, I usually aim for around 10am, but I am flexible with your schedule. If you are adding hair and makeup, you will just need to arrive 2 hours early for glam time.

What to Expect During Your Session
I totally get that taking photos can feel awkward at first. The good news is during a maternity session your hands always have something to do and you will never be left wondering what to do next.
I will guide you through flattering poses, hand placement and where to look so everything feels natural and fun. If you have a favorite look or color palette in mind, I would love to hear about it. This is a creative celebration of your growing family, so partners and older kids are also welcome. I will also guide them so they feel comfortable and included.
If you want to include something special like an ultrasound, baby shoes or a tiny outfit, feel free to bring them. I love incorporating meaningful details.
Hair and Makeup Available
Professional hair and makeup are available as an add-on for your session if you would like a little extra pampering. It gives you a fresh, polished look on camera and lets you relax while someone else gets you photo-ready.
If you choose this option, you will need to arrive about 2 hours before your session for your glam appointment. My trusted HMUA specializes in soft, timeless styles that enhance your natural beauty. Whether you love a subtle glow or a full glam, we will help you pick a look that feels amazing and photographs beautifully. She also offers my clients a special rate when you book her along with a maternity session.
How Long is a Maternity Session
Most sessions last 1–2 hours. That gives us plenty of time for a great mix of poses, locations and photos with your partner or children if you want to include them. If the location involves walking, session length may vary slightly.
I take hundreds of photos and keep things moving so you never feel stuck doing the same pose. You will leave knowing we captured a ton of variety.
How Much Does it Cost

When Do We Get the Photos Back
Your proof gallery is delivered within one week with light edits so you can select your favorites. After you pick your favorites, I fully retouch them and deliver your final edited gallery within 2–3 weeks.
Can We Include Pets
Absolutely! They are part of your story too. I do keep my studio pet-free for allergy reasons, but there are plenty of beautiful outdoor locations that allow dogs or we can photograph your session in your home.
What Should We Wear
I offer a beautiful selection of high-end maternity gowns for you to choose from. Depending on your package, you can wear one or more looks during your session. Every dress is cleaned and sanitized after each use so it is fresh and ready for you.
You are also always welcome to wear your own wardrobe if you prefer. If your partner or kids are joining, I recommend outfits that complement each other. I can help you coordinate everything so you don’t have to worry or stress about what everyone should wear.

I help you choose flattering gowns that highlight your beautiful bump and guide you through natural posing so you look and feel like the best version of you. This stage in your life goes by so quickly, it’s worth documenting it so you can remember what it felt like.
• “I am awkward in photos.”
Almost every mom says this. My job is to take that pressure off of you. You are never left to figure out what to do with your hands or how to stand. I will gently guide you the entire time so we get soft and flattering poses.
• “I am so busy and overwhelmed.”
I take care of the details. From choosing the location to helping with outfits to professional hair and makeup if you want it. Your only job is to show up and enjoy a little moment to breathe.

Photos of this season are something you will never be able to go back and redo. This is a once in a lifetime memory of you becoming a mother. I offer multiple package options as well as payment plans if needed, so you can choose what is easiest for you.
• “I waited too long.”
It is totally okay! We can plan around how you are showing and make sure you are comfortable. As long as baby is still cozy on the inside, it is not too late to document this time.
