I absolutely love when a family finds me while searching for a “Lifestyle Newborn Photography New Jersey”! Mom was able to read through the kind reviews left by my wonderful clients. Every session I photograph is special to me, and this one was no exception, it was such a joy capturing their beautiful family and the love that filled their home.
Although their handsome baby boy was already home from the hospital, she reached out to see if I could still accommodate them for an in-home lifestyle session. And of course, I said yes!
The first few weeks after bringing your baby home are actually one of the best times for an in-home newborn session; everyone is settling in, and the moments are so real and tender.
Setting up for a Lifestyle Newborn Photography Session
Setting up their lifestyle session was a breeze. I brought everything needed: a few neutral wraps and bonnets, to keep the focus on their sweet family connection.
Then I assessed the best rooms with the most natural light, and I choose to use the main bedroom and nursery as the focal points. I cleared a few areas of clutter in those rooms to make it look neat.
What a picture-perfect family they were: a dashing dad, a stunning mom, a super cute two-year-old big sister, and of course, the star of the show- their 14-day-old baby boy. It truly was the perfect combination for a magical, love-filled photo session.
Here’s a sneak peek of some favorites from their lifestyle newborn photography session.
Sibling Photos
We started the session with big sister, who was so excited to have her pictures taken! She was the sweetest with her new baby brother; gently holding him, giving him little kisses, and just loving on him.

I always make sure to spend time connecting with siblings at the start of a session to help them feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. Some kids warm up right away, while others need a little extra time (and patience!) but she was really engaged from the start.
Solo Baby Photos
After that, we moved on to a few adorable photos of just the baby — the star of the show. I wrapped him in a soft, neutral-toned twist wrap to keep him cozy and content. For baby girls, I often add dainty headbands, and for boys, I’ll sometimes include bonnets or sleepy caps; but this time, I wanted to show off that gorgeous head of hair!
Most babies absolutely love being swaddled — it helps them feel snug and secure, and usually sends them right off to sleep. This little guy, though, wasn’t quite ready to miss out on the action. He stayed awake for a bit, taking in all the excitement, before finally drifting off into a peaceful nap later in the session.

Family Photos during a Lifestyle Newborn Photography Session
Once all the sibling and baby shots were done, we moved on to the full family portraits — and wow, what a gorgeous family of four! Mom borrowed a beautiful dress from my client closet, one of the special perks I offer to families who book a full session with me.
I also partner with a fantastic hair and makeup artist who can come right to your home before your session to help you look and feel your absolute best.

Mom, Dad & Baby
Once we finished all of our adorable family photos, I gave big sis a little play break so I could capture mom and dad with their newest addition, as well as individual parent portraits with their baby. We moved from the bedroom shots to the nursery.
I absolutely love photographing these moments — the quiet, tender connection between parents and their newborn is one of the sweetest things to witness. There’s something so special about seeing that mix of love, awe, and pure joy in their eyes.

Details & Macros of your Newborn
Once we’ve completed all the parent and individual portraits in a few different spots, I like to slowly unwrap the baby and capture those sweet, delicate details.
The detail macro shots I usually take are:
- tiny fingers
- little toes
- long lashes
- nose
- lips
These close-up shots are some of my favorites because they freeze those fleeting newborn moments that parents want to remember forever. I always take my time here, making sure baby stays cozy and comfortable, using soft blankets and natural light to create warm, timeless images. My RF 35mm f/1.8 macro lens is my go-to for these shots, it’s perfect for preserving every tiny feature in sharp, beautiful detail.
It’s such a peaceful part of the session — everything slows down, and we get to focus on just how small and perfect your baby is in this moment.

Every in-home newborn session is a little different, but they all share one thing in common: the genuine love and connection that fills your home. These early days pass so quickly, and I feel so honored each time a family trusts me to capture them.
